So I’m obsessed with ocean creatures. Octopuses most of all. This scarf is very much me. Even though it is more squid, I still like it.

This scarf is best worn like some high end long scarf.  I do plan on doing a second scarf in a few years, only I would be doing it in purple. The patter for the scarf can be found here.

Materials

  • Color 1, baby blue
  • Color 2, bright blue (optional)
  • I crochet hook
  • H crochet hook
  • G crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch marker

I decided to use baby yarn for the scarf mainly because I have a pound of it. This scarf works as a decant stash buster, so any yarn works. Use the I crochet hook for the entire body of the scarf.

Follow the pattern when working the tip of the scarf. The edges may curl a bit, but that will be taken care of later.

The ends of the scarf are best worked in one sitting if possible.

With the large hook the scarf grows very fast.

Crochet your scarf as long as you want it to be. I based my scarf length off of a scarf I had sitting around.

Me being me I forgot to take a picture of the scarf with the body finished. But when it is finished start crocheting along the edge of the scarf. I decided to use a different blue to contrast the baby blue of the scarf body.

At the tips of the scarf, I chained 3 and single crocheted in the 3rd chain from top. Then I continued to crochet around the scarf. This takes care of the curling edges, though it looks like a tad bit bunched, but that shall be taken care of later.

Next start on the suckers. They are crocheted first with the I hook, then the H hook, and finally the G hook. Keep the long end inside the sucker.

Once all 42 large, medium, and small suckers are crocheted start sewing them to the right side scarf tips. There are 7 of each kind per end of the scarf. I started with the small ones and used them up.

Once the small suckers are done, sew on the medium ones.

When done with the medium suckers, sew on the large ones. This is how one side looked.

Clean up all the ends on the back side. Weave in your ends!

Once I finished the whole scarf, I washed the scarf in the tub with conditioner and cool water. Make sure all the conditioner is washed out. I hung my scarf over the shower rail to try over night. To stop water from getting every where, I put a towel under it.

And it’s finished. Any one with a love for cephalopods will love this scarf in their life.

Look for a purple one of these scarves in the future. It will be neat.
